The 100 Years War1066 Before The War …

In 1066, William the conquer became king after his victory in the battle of Hastings and ruled England and France as his own.

1327

Under King Henry II, the lands owned in France by England became even lager and all the kings that followed King Henry found that the lands they owned were becoming even bigger and difficult to controll.By 1337 when Edward II became King, England only controlled 2 areas of the Fench lands, one called Gascony in the North and Ponthieu in the South.

1328

In 1328 Charles VI of France died. Charles didn’t have any sons to take over his land and all of his brothers were dead to. He only had a sister Isabella left, she was a mother of Edward III and when Charles died he thought that HE should be King but the French decided that Charles’ cousin should be King. He was furious!!!!

1337

King Edward III of England claimed that he was the rightful ruler of France. He was ready to fight Philip in a war against the French for his place of the KING!!

1350’s

In the 1350’s, the army that King Edward led, was no led by his son the valiant Edward, also known as”The Black Prince”. “The Black Prince” became most famous hero to the English and was known for his braveness. “The Black Prince” led the English to major victories over the French. At the battle of Poitiers “The Black Prince” captured John II, the current King of France!
